A brand-new Body Happy fitness centre is opening on September 21st in an official ribbon cutting ceremony by former Olympic gold medallist and brand ambassador, Sally Gunnell. Body Happy, a leading fitness provider for the over 40’s, will be based at 40-42 Friars Walk, Lewes, complete with brand-new exercise studios and treatment rooms.

Body Happy provides bespoke fitness programmes that seek to improve the physical, mental and social wellbeing of its members. Just twenty minutes from the first centre in Hove, the Lewes centre will be even bigger, with two exercise studios for group fitness classes, two treatment rooms, changing facilities and a social area.

Jenny Day, owner of Body Happy, said: “I’m truly delighted to be launching the new centre in Lewes. Our goal is to contribute to a culture of activeness. As we get older our health goals become very different. It might be to climb the stairs with ease or carry the shopping.

“We’re as much about adjusting your mindset as well as shaping your body to cope with physical exertion and remain healthy. With demand increasing on the NHS to meet requirements for exercise and rehabilitation, Body Happy provides a long-term solution for wellbeing.”

Jenny and her Lewes fitness team will be joined by nutritionist, Alice Godfrey, and stress coach, Anna Goodwin. Each individual service will work in close conjunction with one another, as well as other local healthcare providers including osteopaths and sports therapists, to offer a comprehensive approach to health and wellbeing.

The official opening will take place at 10am, followed by a speech from Sally Gunnell, who will remain at the centre until midday.

On welcoming Sally Gunnell as ambassador, Jenny continued: “Sally is a huge inspiration and I’m so pleased that she supports Body Happy’s mission to help people change their lifestyle for the better, no matter what their age, gender or fitness ability.

“Having Sally on board furthers our belief that you truly can do anything when you set your mind to it. As the only woman to hold four major track titles concurrently, Sally has worked incredibly hard to achieve her goals and that’s the sort of motivation we want to instil in our members.”

The new centre will use state-of-the-art eGym equipment to personalise training and simplify the fitness experience for users. eGym uses smart technology to calculate the correct workout intensity for an individual based on their fitness levels. All settings are adjusted automatically, so Body Happy members won’t have to worry about using the wrong weights or remembering the right settings.

People that join before the September opening will also benefit from the first three months half price.
